At the time I was making Sarge
I had a neighbor who fortunately is no longer living directly
across the street from me. He was a retired military man who
became somewhat intrusive in our lives. We began to feel like
we were always being scrutinized. His goal seemed to be maintaining
conformity on the street.
I noticed after Sarge was completed,
and before he was painted, that the last few chickens I made
reminded me of elderly men. I thought this was very odd. Every
time I looked at Sarge I would see my neighbor's face. This
is why Sarge is dressed in camouflage, because he reminds me
of an older, retired, military man.
